Is it true that cats leave home to die?

My tuxedo cat suddenly disappeared last week and I'm sad and depressed. I have no idea how could have gotten out because our 10-acre property is fenced with 6 foot fence chain link high and my cat can not climb and no trees around. So where might have disappeared ???????? Coyotes are all because we live in the desert. But there are no holes that may come also we have 4 big dogs around it is likely that the fight against coyote. He used to always come to my window and meow at night, jumping on the window screen of wanting to be left in, but my father would not hurt to enter and remain outside to die. I'm so depressed by this. It was the best kitty ever. I loved her so much. I want to die !!!!!!!

Cats who leaves home to die cats are generally larger, more than 10 years. I hope your kitty comes home soon.
