It is logical that secondhand smoke affects the health of our pets, our furry friends suffer a triple threat of snuff. Besides the obvious risk of cancer lung, dogs and cats lick the residual tar and nicotine in their cloaks, which can cause cancer of the mouth and throat. This research was conducted at Colorado State University (CSU), College Veterinary Medicine by Dr. John Reif, who has studied the effects of secondhand smoke in dogs since 1992.

The symptoms of lung cancer in dogs include chronic cough, weight loss and fatigue. Symptoms of nasal cancer include swelling around the nose and sinus areas, nasal discharge and sneezing bloody.

The best solution is to keep the smoke from the environment of your pet and smoke free. Smokers who share their homes with pets should smoke outside and be very careful about the disposal of cigarette butts so that animals can not eat.
